He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Shmidt; and his grandson Mark Fleming. He is survived by: his parents, Arthur Shmidt and Ruth Shmidt; his children, Mark Shmidt (Jo Ellen) of Moberly, MO, Daniel Shmidt of Castelfiorentino, Timothy Shmidt of Crane, MO and Ruth Fleming of Springfield, MO; his brother Don Shmidt of Ohio; and his grandchildren, Samantha Kubiak, Heather Enlow and Emily Aulbach. He is also survived by five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Gerald had also been a member of the American Red Cross, VFW and the Alzheimer's Association.
