He is survived by: his stepmother Eula Lakey of Ava, Missouri; his children, Shane Hasbrouck and Amanda Lakey; his daughter-in-law Lauren; his sister Sandy Lakey; and his grandchildren, Harper, Emerson, Finley and Kane.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to local animal shelters in honor of Steven's love for animals and his dedication to their care.
