He was predeceased by: his parents, James Neal Griggs and Myrtle Ann Griggs (Calvert); his siblings, William "Bill" Griggs, Paul Griggs, James Rolland Griggs and Mayzell Ward; and his former wife Ilse Griggs.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Koenings; his daughter Louise Griggs of Columbia; his stepchildren, John Pharr, Frank Pharr, Eric Pharr and Jeanine Nila; his adoptive daughter Kim Balog; his stepgranddaughter Jamie Nila; and his siblings, Tom G. Forrest (Ronna) of Lebanon and Margie Myers of Cadiz, KY. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
