He was predeceased by: his parents, Myrtle Sisson and Henry Sisson; and his foster son Matthew C. Ross. He is survived by: his wife Julia Elizabeth Reid (Betsy); his sons, Donald Ray Sisson Jr. (Carrie) of Holts Summit and John Reid Sisson (Cheri) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; his granddaughters, Christine Sisson of Nashville, Caroline Sisson (Eric Aulbach) of Smyrna and Catherine Claybrook (Joseph) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; his stepgrandson Joshua Dennis (Misty) of Holts Summit, Missouri; his great grandchild Eli Dennis of Holts Summit, Missouri; and his siblings, Tom Sisson (Judy) of Crossville, Tennessee, Teddy, Jack, Henry Clay Sisson and Margery Sisson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
