He was predeceased by: his parents, Shelba Emmett and Golda Elizabeth Nichols (Larimore); his son John Edward Berry "Jeb" Nichols; and his brother John Philip Nichols. He is survived by: his son Richard Tillman Nichols (Lauren); his brother Douglas Gale Nichols; his wife Martha; his grandson Alexander William Nichols of Clinton; his sister-in-law Margaret Conrad (Berry) of Zionsville, Indiana.; his nephews, David Chapman and Phillip Chapman; his niece Mary; and his grandchildren, Thomas Nichols Chapman of Chillicothe, John Richard R. Nichols of Austin, Susan Harris (Nichols) of Round Rock, Sara Conley (Conrad) of Mason and Dr. Susan Billups (Conrad) of Zionsville.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Henry County Historical Society, and these donations may be left in care of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton.
