He was predeceased by: his parents, James Harvey and Mae Jane Rist (Russell); his former wife Mildred Jean Rist (McNally); his wife Gwendolyn Cobb Rist (Huggins); his daughter Debra Johnson; his sons-in-law, Butch Johnson and Gary Huckaby; his great great grandchild Kase Roberts; and his sister Betty Jean McNally.
He is survived by: his children, Ethel "Cookie" Huckaby of Chillicothe, Rose Burke (Bruce) of Utica, Missouri and Billy Jack Rist (Lori Hopper); his stepchildren, Bill Cobb (Theresa) of Kansas City, Joyce Constant (Gary) of Chillicothe and Kathy Gardner (Ron) of Memphis, Missouri.; his grandchildren, David Hibler (Dustin), Stephanie Ballard (Danny), Jo Ann Parrack (Jerry), Donna Klingenberg (Ryan), Elizabeth Sykes (Kevin), Annie Carr (Alan), Jason Carr, Skyler Kline (Amanda), Amber Grooms (Michael), Christy Adams (Robert), Billy Rist (Amber) and Cindy Rist (David); and his stepgrandchildren, Michael Sampsel, Aaron Baker, Adam Baker, Amy Baginski (Denny), Brian Cobb, Kyle Constant (Emily) and Jena Eskew (David). He is also survived by forty great grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren.
