He was predeceased by: his son Charles Robert; his father James Robert; his brother Dennis Gilmore; and his grandparents, Charles and Lucille Gilmore.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy Gilmore of Clinton, Missouri.; his sons, James Gilmore (Samantha) and John Gilmore (Amanda); his grandchildren, Wyatt and Emily; and his brother Don Gilmore (Debbie).
