He was predeceased by: his father Charles R. Mercer; and his brother-in-law David Steven Meyer. He is survived by: his mother Myrna C. Mercer (Natland); his children, Chase R. Mercer (Anna) of Lake St and Haleigh L. Mercer of Florissant, MO; and his sisters, Robin L. Meyer and Cheryl C. Kohler (Kevin) of Chanhassen, MN.

Memorials may be made to: National Heart Association or St. Mary's High School baseball team.
