He was predeceased by: his parents, M. L. Cooper and Lula Moore Cooper; his brothers, Marcus Cooper and Jim Cooper; and his nephew Steve Cooper.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy Cox Cooper of Chesterfield, Missouri; his sons, Jackie Cooper II (Cheryl) of Cape Girardeau and Jeremy Cooper (Rayett) of Colorado; his stepdaughter Angelia Hearon of Alabama; his siblings, Gene Cooper of Seattle, Kenneth Cooper of Dexter, Missouri and Joann Bowman (Carlyn) of Bernie, Missouri; his granddaughter Briget Cooper of Springfield, Missouri; and his great-nieces, Ashley, Lauren and Rylee. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces and friends.
