He is survived by: his mother Betty Barnhart (Kampler); his aunts, Sally Rulo (Donnie), Penny Torry (Joey) and Nancy Vainiko (Marco); and his uncle Richard Barnhart (Shirley). He is also survived by his family, friends.

“I was so sorry to hear of Eric's passage. It was far too early. Eric was a student in a couple of my classes at UMSL. He was a remarkable, engaged student. We disagreed about just about everything, but it was always animated and respectful. A few months ago I looked him up and we exchanged emails after probably 25 years.. We agreed to talk soon. I went to call him a few days ago and got the shocking news. We are all better for knowing him and poorer for losing him.”
