He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall Ewing and Ardell Walker Straughter; his son Matthew Straughter; and his siblings, Sherwood Cross, Robert Lee Straughter, Ruth Ann Sanford and Wilma Straughter.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kimberly Straughter Pfeifer (Paul) of Parker, Denise Straughter Harris (Joseph) of Memphis, Carrie Straughter of Memphis and Yolanda George of Memphis; and his siblings, Marshall Straughter of Memphis, Donnie Straughter of Charleston, Beverly Jones, Georgia Straughter of Charleston, Margaret Helen Hassel, Clara Johnson of St. Louis and Ava Hodges of Dallas. He is also survived by several grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
