He is survived by: his children, Katherine Barnes (Andrew Lentz) of Wilmington, NC and Matt Barnes (Vanessa) of Centralia; his grandson Cameron Barnes of Centralia; and his siblings, Wayne Purvis (Brenda) of Hannibal, Rita Chrisman (Carl) of Vandalia, IL, Roger Purvis (Sandy) of Louisville and Joyce Christmann of Columbia.
