He was predeceased by: his spouse Mary Kathryn Whitsitt; and his sisters, Dorris Willard and Miriam Cox. He is survived by: his children, Nancy Ring (Stephen) of Centerview, Kathy Gay (Randy) of Columbia, Bill McCoy (Marilyn) of Clinton and Roger McCoy (Jill) of Centralia; and his brother John McCoy of Olathe. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.
