He was predeceased by: his parents, Leigh D. Poynter, Sr. and Eva Nelson Poynter; and his wife Sylvia Poynter. He is survived by: his children, Steven L. Poynter of Whitehall, Scott L. Poynter (Kim) of Russellville and Tracy A. Daniel (Mike) of Center Missouri; and his sisters, Nita Marie Cater of Florida and Betty Crawford of Louisiana. He is also survived by six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.
