She was predeceased by: her parents, Alcie Dupree and Bessie Evelyn Byrd (Lemons); and her siblings, Jimmy Byrd, Richard Byrd, Clarence Byrd, Yvonne Varner and Elsie Byrd.

She is survived by: her husband Jim Sandberg; her children, Jimmie Sandberg and Carol Sandberg; her brothers, Alferd Byrd, Kenneth Byrd and Jerry Byrd; her grandchildren, Reid and Ryan; and also Melba. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
