He was predeceased by: his parents, John Cole and Barbara Tener. He is survived by: his wife Lisa Pickering; his daughter Grace Pickering; and his sister Lynn Lewis (Terry) of Chillicothe, Missouri. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Ozark Memorial Park (415 N St Louis Ave, Joplin, MO 64801).
