It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Jo Silence of Carthage, Missouri, who passed away on March 9, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Hollis Shewmake and Helen Grace Shewmake (Vance); her children, Sammye Jo Phelps, George Quinton Pennell and Kevin Schief; and her brother Jerry Vance Shewmake.
She is survived by: her former husband George Pennell; her husband Marshall Silence; her daughter Aimee Kaye Russel (Gene); her son-in-law Chris Phelps; her grandchildren, Madeline Grace Phelps-Jaworski (Arthur), Isabel Claire Presley (Bryce), Keith Allen Russel, Sarah Nicole Allen (Braylen), Will Morgan Russel, Brandon Pennell and Kimberly Pennell; and her great grandchildren, Milo James Presley and Dawson Wayne Allen.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Knell Mortuary (308 W Chestnut St, Carthage, MO 64836). A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 14th 2025 at 10:00 AM at 800 S Main St, Carthage, MO 64836.
