He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Bryan and Edith "Lown" Van Wey; his wife Billie J. "Bumgarner" Van Wey; his son Larry Van Wey; his grandson Corey Van Wey; and his siblings, Everett Van Wey, Viola Peoples, Rosie Harbison, Lois Templeton and Wanda Van Wey.

He is survived by: his sister Florence Still (James); his children, Dennis Van Wey (Trish), Randy Van Wey, Vickie Birdsong (Clint) and Kim Peters (Gerald); and his stepdaughters, Jackie Asbell (Tom) and Linda Hodge (Ferrell). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren, and numerous step great-grandchildren.
