It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Charles A. Slates of Carthage, Missouri, who passed away on December 6, 2021, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Slates and Mable Kunkler Slates; and his siblings, Frank, Gilbert Slates and Emma Jean Slates Stark.
He is survived by: his wife Dessie D. Starlin; his children, C. Larry Slates (Karen) and Lora Slates Tucker (G. L.); his grandchildren, Shay Tucker Huntzicker (Bill), Averi Tucker, Joshua Slates (Katy) and Jennifer Slates Beckett (Daniel); his great grandchildren, Brantly Gossett (Riley), Layne Gossett, Jalyn, Ava Huntzicker, Caroline, Madeline and Catherine Beckett; and his great great grandchildren, Leighton Danner and Aspen Gossett. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to Wounded Warriors or Parker Place, a transitional housing program for veterans, in care of Knell Mortuary.
