He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph John and Clara Emma Kuester (Boeckhaus); and his brother Robert John "Brother John" Kuester. He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Vernon; his daughters, Pam Distler (Dan), Sheila Grunewald (Grant) and Julie Long (Kent); his grandchildren, Jake, Gracie Distler, Gabe Grunewald, Nick and Zach Long; and his sisters-in-law, Margery Kuester and Sharon Hess (Bill). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many more extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lutheran Braille Workers or Martin Luther School of Joplin, MO.
