He was predeceased by: his father John VanGennip; and his siblings, Ben, Robert, Paul VanGennip, Rita Shell and Mildred VanGennip.
He is survived by: his children, Kevin VanGennip (Tammy) of Orange City, FL and Stacy Skelton (Sean); his grandchildren, Katie Zurline (Mark) of O'Fallon, MO, Kelly VanGennip of Orlando, FL, Hannah Skelton of St. Louis, MO and Jacob Skelton of Edwardsville, MO; and his great grandchildren, Lexi and Lani Zurline.
