She was predeceased by: her parents, John Yarber and Helen Cook Cummings; her sons, Albert Carter and Herman McElmurry; her siblings, James Yarber, A. W. Yarber, Johnnie Mae Bracy, Etta Mae Johnson and Georgia Yarber; and her grandchildren, Tara McElmurry and Corey Wilson.
She is survived by: her children, John Michael McElmurry of Mesa, Marlena Conner (Ross) of Cape Girardeau, Marilyn Newbern of Cape Girardeau, Patricia Wilson (Richard) of Cape Girardeau and Helen Pearson (Larry) of Baton Rouge; and her daughters-in-law, Regina McElmurry, Joyce Carter Thrower of Cape Girardeau and Vickie McElmurry of Aurora. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church (1029 S Benton St, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
