He was predeceased by: his parents, John M. Underwood and Frances Gillespie Underwood; his son Mark Underwood; and his siblings, Jack, Jim, Doyle Underwood and Nelda Simpson.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Underwood of Cape Girardeau; his sons, Timothy Underwood (Marcia) of Sikeston, Missouri, Joel Underwood of Springfield, Missouri and Terence Underwood (Rachel) of Cape Girardeau; his daughter-in-law Julia Underwood Burton; his siblings, Brian Underwood (Carol Hunt) of St. Louis and Alice Cofman (Burt) of Leominster, Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Caitlin Hoskins (John) of St. Louis, Tyler Underwood (Katie Baroway) of Lakewood, Colorado, Evan Underwood (Aly) of Laurie, Missouri and Connor Underwood of Springfield, Illinois; and his great grandchildren, Hattie Hoskins, Dawson Underwood and Jesse Underwood. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
