He was predeceased by: his parents, Virginia Mae Hardin and Miller; his sister Patsy Cartwright; his parents-in-law, Nancy Kirchner and Clarence Kirchner; his siblings-in-law, Jack Cartwright, Cathy Hunziker and Carl Kirchner; and his niece Ginny Goan.

He is survived by: his pet Roscoe; his wife Marcia L. Kirchner; his daughters, Pamela Martz of Canton, Cheryl Hall (Michael) of Lenexa, KS, Tricia Madsen (William) of Overland Park, KS and Leslie Moon (Corey) of Canton; his brother Robert J. Hardin (Janet Stoerger); his grandchildren, Joey Martz (Emma) of Clinton, Cory Martz (Maddie Kirchner) of Canton, Katy Sowizral (Konrad) of Kirksville, Abby Martz, R. J. Flynn of Pullman, WA, Graham Madsen of Overland Park, KS and Bria Moon of Macon; and his great grandchildren, Isabella Martz and Eleanor Martz of Clinton, IA..
