He was predeceased by: his parents, Elijah DeSpain and Lillie Jane DeSpain (Lutes); and his siblings, Aurthor N. DeSpain, Lulu Mae Ward and Edna Mae Guess.
He is survived by: his wife Mabel DeSpain (Asberry) of Campbell; and his children, Greg DeSpain (Julie) of Poplar Bluff, Russell DeSpain (Teresa) of Mount Vernon, KY, Neal DeSpain (Diana) of Campbell, Melissa Gilchrist (Ken) of Brook, IN and Lucretia Goodwin (Dan) of Reynolds Station, KY. He is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
