He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence N. Sr. Thornton and Elta Thornton (Betts); and his wife Lavonne. He is survived by: his daughters, Jean Jones (David) of Yakima, WA and Jenny Fratzke (Arlin) of Stevensville, MT; and his stepson Larry Hall (Susan).
