He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Henry Derickson and Minnie Josephine Lisby Derickson; and his brothers, Forrest Derickson, Dwanye Derickson, Donald Derickson and William Derickson.

He is survived by: his wife Deborah Pruitt Derickson of Hamilton; his daughters, Jennifer Ridenour (Bogard) and Donna Perry of Kirksville; his sons-in-law, Matthew Ridenour of Bogard and Kyle Dixon of Kirksville; his sister Lois Niehaus Burkey (Lyle Burkey) of Chillicothe; his grandchildren, Brittney Oster (Ethan Hayes) of Bogard, Cassandra "Cassie" Perry of Kirksville and Tyson Perry of Kirksville; and his siblings-in-law, Bobby Campbell of Chillicothe, Billy Campbell of Kirksville, Betty Derickson of Chillicothe, Sarah Derickson of Marceline, Ronda Smith of St. Louis, Linda Gates of Mississippi, Lisa Vandgriff of Mississippi, Steve Williams, Sue Derickson and Dolly Derickson.
