He was predeceased by: his wife Laura Flathers; his daughter Brenda Flathers; his granddaughter Jamie Martin; and his parents, James Flathers and Ada Flathers.

He is survived by: his former wife Laura Barr; and his children, Cynthia Grosse (Phil), Donna Martin (Mike), Rhonda Green (John), Kimberly Flathers, Joan Jones (Bruce), Donnie Flathers Jr., John Flathers (Kim) and Chris Flathers (Amanda). He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
