He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Sr. Pirtle and Emma Jane Pirtle; his son Charles; and his grandchildren, Evan and Catherine.
He is survived by: his wife Patricia Font; his children, Denise Scarlett (David), Scott Pirtle (Christine) and Ross Pirtle (Barbara); and his grandchildren, Jacob, Tricia, Paige, Megan, Maxwell, Jack, Mason and Mari. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
