He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Shari Liess; his sons, Benjamin Liess (Angie), Aaron Liess (Eva), Jeremy Liess (Ashley Vogler) and Matt Liess; his grandchildren, Hannah and Jake Liess; his parents, Beverly "Cookie" Liess and Milton Liess; his sister Sherry Levin (Jeff Jagmin); his siblings-in-law, Candy Oyler (Arnie Benardette), Wendy Grossman, Cindy Balaban (Mark), Julie Kurutz and David Grossman (Steve Files); and his pets, Anni and Max.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Humane Society, Jewish Food Pantry, or the Center For Spiritual Living.
