He was predeceased by: his parents, James Ruder and Lydia Ruder. He is survived by: his wife Sandi Ruder; and his children, Susan Ruder-Bonnewell of Prescott Valley, AZ, Cheryl Ruder of Kansas City and David Ruder of Kansas City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Mayo Clinic.
