He was predeceased by: his siblings, Ervin, Elmer, Earl (Elva), Floy, Blanche (Bert), Dymple and Eileen.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Sutton (Kiser) of Cairo; his children, Verna Hess (Dick) of Cairo, Linda Burbank (Roger) of Cairo and Gary Sutton (Gina) of Brunswick; and his sister Louise Middleton of Bismark. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren.
He recieved a Citation for this work, In recognition of contributions to the United State' pioneering space programs of Projects Mercury and Gemini, hailed among the most important and successful explorations in the history of mankind, this citation is hereby conferred upon: Vernon Sutton, A member of the astronautics team, whose efforts produced even greater results than anticipated, giving the United State virtually every important record in manned space flight.
