He was predeceased by: his parents, Oren Thompson and Blanche Thompson (Schrum); his wife Sharon Thompson; his son Timothy Ryan Thompson; and his brothers, Thomas Larry Thompson, James Thompson, Leo Thompson and Oren Thompson, Jr..

He is survived by: his sons, Terry Thompson (Sherrie) and Bradley Thompson (Tiffany). He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; also surviving are nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
