He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard J. Schmidt and Kathryn E. Bryan Schmidt; and his sister Joyce Pulley. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Irene Reichel; his children, John L. Schmidt, Jr. of Bunceton and Teresa J. Twenter (Cletus) of Boonville, MO.; his grandchildren, Brandy Morgan (Ricky), John Twenter (Shani), David Schmidt, Carie Rhodes (Develyn) and Katerina Thurman (Greg); his aunt Barbara Jean Robinson of Oklahoma; and his great grandchildren, Marshall Stutzman, Clayton Schmidt, Paisley Twenter, Scarlett Thurman, Selena Rhodes, Reagan Twenter, Eleanor Rhodes and Kennedy Twenter.
