He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucille Shatto and Harry Gillespie; his brother Larry Gillespie; his stepfather Elmer Shatto; and his stepbrother Danny Shatto.

He is survived by: his wife Sherry Epperly Gillespie; his son Steven II (Wilma); his grandchildren, Steven III, Sebastian and Shay of Brookfield; his children, Britnee, Jeremiah, Jazmin of Bucklin and Sarena (Russell); his grandchildren, Faith, Tristin, Danielle, Rebecca and Savannah of Bucklin; his sisters, Carol Darnold of Jefferson City and Harriette Ferris of Temecula; and his stepsiblings, Wayne Shatto of Missouri and Sharon Ellis of Macon. He is also survived by spouses and children, Several nieces, nephews.
