He was predeceased by: his parents, James Monroe McDowell and Clara Blanche McDowell (Hawthorne); his former wife Mary Beatrice McDowell; his wife Pauline McDowell; and his siblings, Darrell McDowell, Baby Joel McDowell, Elizabeth McDowell, Ethel Burbaugh, Alberta Lee, Grace Pulliam, Violet Masek and Glenda McDowell.
He is survived by: his children, Pat McDowell of Hillsboro, Carolyn McDowell of De Soto, Stacie McDowell of Bonne Terre, Mary McDowell of De Soto, Ron Thompson of De Soto, Sharon McCauley of Rockaway Beach and Brenda Street of Branson; and his siblings, Harold McDowell of Georgia, Midge McDowell of Fredericktown and Blanche Wilson of Farmington. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, forty seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
