He was predeceased by: his mother Betty Lou McNail Mahaffey; his stepfather Jimmy Mahaffey; his father Arvie "Bill" Ferrell; and his stepmother Linda Ferrell. He is survived by: his significant other Debra Clasen of Forsyth, MO.; his son David Ferrell (Trista); his grandchildren, Kloey and Kiley of Springfield, MO.; his daughter Jean Culberton (Robert); his grandchildren, Trenton, Olivia and Kyeleigh of Sikeston, MO.; his son Jonathan Ferrell (Jesse); his grandchildren, Riley and Mason; and his siblings, Ronnie Ferrell (Linda) of Visalia, CA., Phillip Ferrell (Karen) of Hanford, CA. and Gina Willit of Michigan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
