He was predeceased by: his parents, George Harvey and Mable Girtrude Hunter (Combs); his former wife Nancy Hunter (Keeling); his children, Jackie Hunter and Marilyn; and his adoptive daughter Beverly Lashley.

He is survived by: his daughter Gale Sandoval (Danny) of Springfield; and also Mary Tindle Hunter of Strafford. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
