He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Schmidt and Elaine Schmidt; his grandparents, Richard "Pop", Alta Schmidt, George and Gertrude Etling; his daughter Rose Ganira; his stepson Joey Hofstetter; his father-in-law Fred Pinkston; and his brother-in-law Mike Beeman.

He is survived by: his wife Cynthia D. Schmidt (Beeman) of Bourbon; his daughters, Angela Roley of South Carolina and Amber Schmidt of Sullivan; his stepson Albert Hofstetter Jr. of Bourbon; his siblings, Kenny Schmidt of Eureka, Eric Schmidt (Erica) of Hazelwood, Georgia Arrow of Washington and Tracee DeNuei (Dave) of Minnesota; his mother-in-law Shirley Pinkston of Bourbon; and his grandchildren, Josiah Roley, Emily Ganira, Dwight "Bubbie" Rich, Sophia Roley, Abbie Roley, Darius Schmidt, Joshua Kurtis Ganira, Matthew Walter Ganira and Ariella Lee. He is also survived by many nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
