He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Stemmons and Josephine Stemmons; and his wife Virginia Estill. He is survived by: his siblings-in-law, India Stemmons of Columbia, MO and Charles Estill of Columbia, MO; and his close friend Pearl Allen of Boonville, MO. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial to the Morgan Street Baptist Church.
