He was predeceased by: his parents, Lou Dytha (Lakey) and Clinton "Curly" Applegate, Sr.; and his siblings, Juanita, Mae and Bosco (Marsha).

He is survived by: his former wife Marsha Munden; his son Scott Wayne Applegate; his grandchildren, Kelsey, Tanner and Mason; his daughter Sherry Jane Applegate; his grandchildren, Destoni Taylor, Alana Jordan, Bailey Grace Meyer, Asher Lane and Maeve Everleigh Phoenix; his son Cletis L. E. Applegate; his wife Carolyn; his grandson Vincent Lee Applegate; his son James Keith "Jamie" Applegate (Urbana); his stepson Shane Hand (Clever); his daughters, Holly Miller (Camdenton) and Amber Reeves of Phoenix, AZ; and his siblings, Thetis (Anna Mae) of Springfield, Debbie Gazaway, Rosie Perez of Fair Play, Cacky of Springfield and Roger. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
