He was predeceased by: his parents, August Niewald and Florence Niewald (Ritterbusch); his wife Gladys Naomi Jost; and his brothers, Harry and Herbert Niewald.
He is survived by: his daughters, Gail Baumann (Mark) of Independence and Kris Martin (Scott) of Kansas City; his brother Ervin Niewald of New Haven; his grandchildren, Emily Howell (Chad) of Blue Springs, Karri Baumann of Kansas City, Julie Brauch (Ethan) of Battlefield, Douglas Martin of Overland Park, Kans and Mallory Martin of Estero, Fla.; and his great grandchildren, Ava, Grace, Lila Howell of Blue Springs and Adalynn Brauch of Battlefield. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
