He was predeceased by: his parent Willie Poteat; his spouse Catherine Miles Poteat; and his sisters, Willie Mae Howard and Cleola Blackwell. He is survived by: his parent Sallie Stephens Poteat; his children, Marcus Poteat (Delaine) of McLeansville and Linda Poteat Watts (Gregory) of Durham; his siblings, Joe Poteat (Evelyn) of Clinton, Sallie Poteat King of Silver Springs and Mahalie Fox; and his grandchildren, Justin Watts, Jonovan Watts, Kierra Poteat and Kayla Poteat. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
