He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Hartwig and Margaret Meyer Hartwig; and his stepson Jimmy Gifford. He is survived by: his wife Patsy Pattrick Gifford; his granddaughters, Brittany E. Thompson (Joseph) of Marshall and Ashley L. Gifford of Columbia; his great grandchildren, Trever B. Mendez, Kinzleigh F. Mendez, Elin Thompson and Knox Thompson; and his sisters, Betty Schlichting (Jim) of Oak Grove, Barbara Kennedy of Marshall and Tamara Bredehoeft (Ron) of Alma. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
