He was predeceased by: his parents, Earmel Fortner and Louise Fortner (Hart); his children, Amanda Fortner and Nathan Fortner; his brothers, Charles and Terry Fortner; and his niece Stephanie Fortner.

He is survived by: his children, Angie Eckhoff, Ace, Aaron Fortner, Stacia, Justin Fortner, Andy Fortner and Tyson Fortner; his grandchildren, Levi, Bryce, Hailey Anne, Cameron, Drew, Devin, McKinzie, Blakleigh, Brayden, Mason, Elijah and Waylon; his daughter Mary Fortner; his siblings, Tom Fortner (Paula), Brian Fortner (Loretta), Dale Fortner and Shelly Drake (Jim); and his nephews, Kevin (Kayla Fortner) and Troy Fortner.
