He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin F. Mehl and Mary Rose Mehl (Ortwein); his former wife Donnis Patricia Deely; his son Joseph Michael "Joe" Mehl, Jr; his grandson Zachary Mehl; and his siblings, Charles Mehl and Mary K. "Dee" Mehl.
He is survived by: his wife Jerri; his daughters, Trish Bramer (Jody), Teresa Mehl and Katherine; his daughter-in-law Becky Mehl; his stepchildren, Rick Lawson (Anne), Pam Gideon (Jacob) and Sheila Allen; his grandchildren, Heather Mehl, Lucas Mehl, Stephanie Mehl, Amelia Bramer, Anna of Carle and Eleanor of Carle; his stepgrandchildren, Brandon Banzet, Tonya Gideon, Andrea Gideon and Amanda Patterson; his great grandchild Kasen; and his brother Raymond Mehl. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and many other extended family and friends.
