He was predeceased by: his parents, John Raymond and Iola Laverne Wilson McGowan (Toots); his sons, Justin McGowan and Jed McGowan; his grandsons, Jared McGowan and Jonathan McGowan; his brother Jimmy Joe McGowan; and also Myles Gooch.
He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Louise Nichols; his son Joey McGowan of Bernie, Missouri; his granddaughters, Jill McGowan of Bernie and Mary Beth McGowan of Bernie, Missouri; his siblings, Jackie McGowan (Helen) of Bernie, Missouri, Johnny McGowan (Betty) of Bernie, Missouri, Jeffery McGowan (Karen) of Bernie, Missouri, Jan McGowan of Bernie, Missouri and Margie Brown (Dave) of Elgin, Illinois; his sister-in-law Darlene McGowan of Bernie, Missouri; and also, Michelle McGowan of Dexter, Missouri and Sherian Nichols Todd (Jamie). He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
