He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Abbott; his children, Charles "Peewee" Southard Jr. of Bernie, Missouri, Jimmy Southard of Bernie, Missouri, Betty Avila-Prado of Piggott, Rose Southard of Malden and Sheila Crenshaw of Glasgow, Kentucky; and his siblings, Clifton "Bubba" Southard (Peggy) of Canalou, Missouri, Carolyn Hughes (Robert) of Canalou and Hazel Cantrell of Malden, Missouri. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
