He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor Scherer and Pauline Welter Scherer; his former wife Mary Louise Scherer; his wife Georgia Guinn Grady; and his sons, Greg and Gerard.
He is survived by: his children, Joe Scherer (Lauren) of Pacific, Glenn Scherer of St. Louis, Tim Scherer (Michelle) of Scott City, Rosanne Elsey (David) of Sikeston, Karen Scherer of Nashville, Mary Beth Glastetter (Fred) of Oran, Laura Scherer of Benton and Kristy Allgeyer (Steve) of St. Louis; and his sisters, Geneva Dirnberger of Benton and Wilma Martin of Advance. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
