She was predeceased by: her parents, Marion Ace Green and Ida Bell Pixley-Green; her husband Sylvester Bates; her siblings, Elmer Green, Henry Green, Raymond Green, Glenn Green, Harold Green, Alma Vandegriff, Mary Bradshaw and May Tilley; and her grandson Stephen Scott Bates.
She is survived by: her children, Vester Bates (Karla) of Bell City, Martha Surface (Hughes) of Sikeston, Carolyn Moss (Terry) of Alabama and Bobby Bates of Bell City. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
